The Drent  is a standing birddog in group 7.  The breed is old, pure and  still strong.  Not  an extremely fast dog, but long lasting, and goes through everything in the nature, and works as good on land as in water.  They are not very outgoing, and are supposed to work between the hunter and the prey.  They search the prey, get it up to fly/run, search/apport  after the shot and bring the prey back to the hunter.  The Drent has the most soft mouth, and can easy carry an egg in their mouth without breaking it.

In common they are soft and  extremely loving dogs, kind to other animals and to people.  A lovely combination as a huntingdog and a familymember. As hunters usually are, they are quite smart, clever to fool you and stubborn.  Easy to train and learn as good as fex. a Shetland Sheepdog, but get easy tired and bored if training goes on for long and in the same pattern.

A Drent is puppy for years, and needs continuity and a secure raising.  Not too hard, but not too soft either. They learn very early who is the boss, and they know to take advantage of what they so clever experience.  The most important thing is to have a Drent around you all the time in daily life, and they are not suitable as kenneldogs or locked up in a  dogyard for very long time.
They are 100% dependent of human contact, love and  attention.

With a Drent in the house, life is never ever empty or boring.

Dronnia will be 6 years in October 2010, and  Charles still plan to have her first litter.
Last chance Summer/Autumn 2010.
